Health and Family Welfare Minister Muhammed Nasim called upon the doctors and others concerned to perform their duties with utmost sincerity and honesty to reach healthcare services to the doorstep of rural people.
Rural and marginalised people are totally dependent on public hospitals for emergency health service and that is why the present government is committed to reach healthcare services to them.
The minister said this on Thursday while addressing the Rajshahi divisional conference of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) at Rajshahi Medical College auditorium as the chief guest.
Muhammad Nasim said the government with dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working relentlessly to ensure qualitative and standard healthcare services to all.
Chaired by BMA Divisional Committee President Dr Mostofa Alam Nannu, the meeting was addressed, among others, by former mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, BMA Central Committee President Dr Mostofa Jalal Mohiuddin and Secretary General Dr Ehteshamul Haque Chowdhury.
Nasim said the government appointed 6,500 doctors in 2014 and it has a plan to appoint 10,000 more doctors in the near future.
He said the problem of nurses has already been resolved through appointment of 10,000 nurses.
