A Barisal court on Thursday rejecting bail prayer sent a doctor and 4 staffs of a diagnostic center to jail for cheating with patients.
The accused were Dr. Tasnuv Ferdous, and Asia Diagnostic Center staffs Shahin, Milon Baroi, Shafiul Alam and Munni Islam.
Shakhawat Hossain, Kotwali police station in charge, said one Abdul Khalek, a cheated patient, lodged a case in this connection on early Thursday.
In the case it was alleged that Khalilur Rahman coming from Boga of Patuakhali for treatment of back pain on Wednesday afternoon was captured by some cheater brokers at the bus stand area and they took her to Asia Diagnostic Center at nearby Amtala More area of the city.
There Dr. Tasnuv Ferdous taking Tk.8, 500 as diagnosis and clinical test fees within ten minutes gave him a prescription and asked to go.
This speedy diagnosis created suspiciousness among the patient and attendants and they informed police.
Police rushed to the spot arrested the accused five.
The diagnostic center was sub-standard, running without license and different types of earlier stamped clinical test examination report forms also found from there and the arrestees acknowledged their cheating by collecting patients through brokers in primary interrogations, police sources said.
On Thursday the arrested accused were produced before the chief metropolitan magistrate court of Barisal, and the magistrate rejecting their bail prayer ordered to send them to jail.
