2 JMB men killed in Gazipur ‘gunfight’

 Two suspected members of the banned militant group Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) were reportedly killed in a gunfight with the members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in Jugitola area near Bypass Road in city on Sunday night. The deceased were identified as JMB members Mahbubul,30, and Minhajul, 35. Wing commander (media) Mufti Mahmud Khan of Rab-1, said in a press briefing around early in the Monday morning that on secret information a team of Rab conducted a drive in Jugitola area around 11pm. Sensing the presence of the Rab members, the JMB members blasted bombs, prompting the elite force members to retaliate with firing that triggered a gunfight. A Rab member Masud was injured in the blast. Later the elite forces raided an abandoned the house in the area from 12am to 2.30am and recovered two dead bodies from the house. They also recovered a bomb, a pistol with five round of bullets, jihadi books and huge amount of bomb making substances. The JMB men were holding a meeting in the house for planning sabotage, said the Rab commander. Rab members suspected that the two JMB men were killed in the bomb explosion.–Gazipur, Dec 28 (UNB)
