A REPORT in The New Nation on Saturday said a city hospital doors were closed for about two hours barring outdoor patients from entering the hospital to seek treatment in the peak morning hours on Thursday last. It happened because the Health Minister attended an event inside the hospital to inaugurate the Surgical Department and operation theater of Sheikh Russel National Gastro Liver Institute and Hospital at Mohakhali in the city.
The hospital director, however, denied to have issued such an order but on-duty Ansar personnel said they received orders to keep the gates closed. It is understandable that the closure was implemented to ensure the safety in our character. The minister ignored the humanitarian need getting medical attention. General slavishness among the government employees, big or small, too to neglect public duty to please the higher authority.
We are not for blaming the Minister. Because we know that to government employees the people are nothing for taking into consideration. The people are to pay them but not expect loyalty to the people. Such mentality of sycophancy misplaced loyalty is cause our losing rights and honour. This is a question our honour as a free people and it is for us to be conscious of protecting our honour. The government employees must be loyal but not slaves
Generally speaking the society has organised by the government where slavishness is loyalty and anti-people elements are rewarded.
