Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has launched a 10-day special campaign to eradicate Aedes mosquito. On Tuesday (May 17) morning, DNCC Chief Executive Officer Selim Reza inaugurated the program at the Justice Shahabuddin Ahmed park area of Gulshan,.
Earlier, on Wednesday (May 11) in the capital Uttara Aedes and anti-dengue citizens took part in the awareness rally DNCC Mayor.
That time, Mayor Atiqul Islam announced a 10-day mosquito eradication program. The program will run from 17 to 26 May.
At the inauguration ceremony, DNCC CEO Selim Reza said the mayor has strict instructions that no discount will be given if mosquito larvae are found in any building, house under construction, in any government-private or semi-government organization or even in any office of the city corporation.
If larvae are found, legal action will be taken. He said the Dhaka North City Corporation has regular mosquito control activities throughout the year.
This season, under the direction of the Mayor, we have already identified the hotspots and are working regularly at the regional and ward levels.
Selim Reza urged to the people of the city to destroy the source of Aedes by dumping the stagnant water in their homes, adding that dengue can be prevented only if everyone is aware. During this time he visited several buildings under construction with other officials. After the inauguration ceremony, a mobile court was conducted and a fine of Tk 6 lakh was imposed for finding Aedes mosquito larvae in three buildings under construction.
