Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) conducted a mobile court Sunday as part of its anti-adulteration drive in city’s Dhanmondi area and fined managers of five business establishments, including Almas Super Shop, Tk 2.10 lakh; in default to suffer different terms of simple jail.
Mobile court executive magistrate Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury fined them for selling adulterated food as well as products without BSTI approval.
DMP sources said, Mahbubur Rahman, the manager of chain shop “Almas Super Shop” of 84A Dhanmondi, was fined Tk 1 lakh for selling products
without BSTI approval and in default to suffer one year of simple imprisonment, while Md Masum Billah, manager of Alemia Bakery, of 48 Satmasjit Road, was fined Tk 25,000 and in default to suffer three months of simple imprisonment.
The mobile court also fined Md Imran, manager of Chhabar Restaurant of 747 Satmasjit Road, Tk 30,000 and in default to suffer six months’ simple imprisonment; Md Junaiyed, the manager of Olympia Palace Restaurant of 48 Satmasjid Road, Tk 25,000 and in default to undergo three months jail; and Md Lukman Hossain, the manager of Ali Abacus Thai and Chinese Restaurant of 48 Satmasjit Road, Tk 30,000 and in default to suffer six months’ jail.
