DMP launches online traffic service

Joynal Abedin Khan :The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has launched the newly established ‘one-stop traffic pose device’ for filing cases at 500 intersections in the capital. “The traffic sergeants will be enable to file a case within 30 seconds with the help of the new device,” Outgoing Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Benzir Ahemd told The New Nation after inaugurating the traffic device at Gulistan in the city on Thursday. “No hard copy will be needed for filing cases against any vehicle or person from today (Thursday) and any accused on the charge will get a print copy from the device centre instantly,” he said.  Benzir said, “Any victims can pay their fined money instantly under this quick system by taking necessary papers regarding the matter.” He said that police would be enable to identify any necessary documents of any vehicle by the one-stop service. Even, the device also correctly supplies previous information instantly. He said that from now on, police would be able to accelerate their service through ‘online traffic service’. Besides, police and the victim will find any information about the vehicle within several seconds. The police official further said that the system has been introduced in the attempt to ensure better transparency as well as accountability of the sergeants. “It (system) will also help the sergeants to do their duties without any pressure from powerful quarters,” he said. Under the new devise, no officials would be able to delete any information as it will be an auto monitoring system, he added.
