Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Monday launched a new format for filing General Diary (GD) with police stations.
DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Miah launched and supplied the newly-initiated forms to 49 police stations at a function in his office on the day.
“Most of the people suffer for filing GDs due to lack of standard form, and they even have to pay Tk 200-250 for it,” he said at the inaugural function.
The DMP Commissioner has vowed to bring the practice to an end by launching the new format. Using the specific form supplied by the concerned police stations, people can file GDs easily without any hassle, he added. He also said the initiative will help them eliminate misunderstandings between police and people.
He handed over the GD books, comprising of 200 pages for 100 GDs, to the officials of Kalabagan, New Market and Uttara (West) police stations on the occasion.
The DMP Commissioner warned of taking punitive action if any police official is found receiving money from citizens who come for filing GDs.
