The traffic division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) filed a total of 6,420 cases for violating traffic rules in Dhaka city.
Police on Sunday fined Taka 29, 16,050 over different traffic irregularities and sent 27 vehicles to dumping ground. Apart from this, a total of 928 vehicles were sent for wrecking. A total of 132 vehicles were sued for using hydraulic horns, 15 vehicles for using hooters and beacon light, 909 vehicles for moving into the wrong way, one for pasting illegal sticker on body and 16 microbuses were booked for using black glasses on windows, said a DMP press release on Monday. Cases were also filed against 2,179 motorcycles for violating traffic rules and 184 more were seized.
A total of 60 drivers were also booked for talking on mobile phones while driving, added the DMP press release.
