DMP files 3,089 cases over traffic irregularities

The traffic division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) filed a total of 3,089 cases for violating traffic rules in the capital on Friday.
Police at the time fined the traffic offenders Taka 12, 74,250 and sent six vehicles to dumping ground. Apart from this, a total of 310 vehicles were sent for wrecking.
A total of 284 vehicles were sued for using hydraulic horns, four vehicles for using hooters and beacon lights, 500 vehicles for moving into the wrong way and six microbuses were booked for using black glasses on windows, said a DMP press release on Saturday.
Cases were also filed against 741 motorcycles for violating traffic rules and 18 more were seized.
Three cases were filed against drivers for talking on mobile phones while driving, added the DMP press release.
