11 Rovers of Daffodil International University (DIU) achieved “National Service Award of Bangladesh Scouts” for the year 2012. As recognition of their outstanding performance and bravery and glorious service to the society Bangladesh Scout awarded this award.
To celebrate this glorious achievement DIU Air Rover Scout Group accorded a reception to award winners on Saturday at DIU Auditorium. The function was presided over by Prof Dr M Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor of the university and President, DIU Air Rover Scout Group. Former Deputy National Commissioner (Program) of Bangladesh Scout Md Arifuzzaman Arif, PRS graced the occasion as the chief guest while Wing Commander M Rafiqul Islam, Former Secretary, Air Region was present as the special guest at the function.
The function was addressed by Mahabub Parvez, Head, Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Md. Anowar Habib Kazal, Assistant Director (Public Relations) and Treasurer, DIU Air Rover Scout Group, Ziaul Haque Sumon, RSL and Mr. Md. Shaiful Islam Khan, Officer (PR) and RSL, DIU Air Rover Scout Group.
Addressing as the chief guest Md. Arifuzzaman Arif said, achieving an award in National level is very important and historical event for a Scout which inspire him to engage himself more and more in scouting through self rectification of mind.
He urged the rovers to maintain and follow the rules and ideas of Baden Powell to create a beautiful world for all. He appreciated the recent activities done by the Rovers of DIU and urged to keep up the speed. He also said, introducing Rover Movement at the university, Daffodil International University has set an example to be followed by other private universities. In the presidential address Prof Dr M Lutfar Rahman said, scouting helps the students to increase interaction among them, gain experience and focus themselves to perform well in professional life and also to get exposure. He urged the rovers to utilize the gained experience and knowledge from scouting to build a bright future and successful career.
