DIU Pharma Career Expo 2018 began on Saturday at the main campus of Daffodil International University (DIU) in the capital. DIU in association with Bangladesh Association of Pharmaceutical Industries (BAPI) jointly organized this 2 daylong DIU Pharma Career Expo 2018 from 3-4 February 2018.
Nazmul Hassan MP, President, Bangladesh Association of Pharmaceutical Industries (BAPI) and President Bangladesh Cricket Board inaugurated the Expo as the chief guest. SM Shafiuzzaman, Secretary General, BAPI were present as the Special Guest at the opening ceremony of the Expo. Dr Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, DIU and Chairman, Daffodil Family presided over the inaugural ceremony.
The inaugural ceremony was also addressed by Prof Dr Yousuf Mahabubul Islam, Vice Chancellor, DIU, Prof Dr SM Mahabubul Haque Majumder, Pro- Vice Chancellor and Md. Mustafezur Rahman, Head, Department of Pharmacy of DIU.
2-day long DIU Pharma Career Expo includes seminar, workshop, career talk show, Exhibition and project display. A total of 15 pharmaceutical industries are participating in this Career Expo.
A series of seminar titled “Conquer Your Career: A Guide to Mastering Lifelong Success”, “Pharma Product Management in Bangladesh” and “Professional employability in Pharma – sector” will be held where industry leaders will share their experience and provide guide line for the new comers in this sector.
Nazmul Hasan MP said, according to foreign currency earning index, Bangladesh has already taken a remarkable place in the world through pharmaceutical sector. In the current situation Bangladesh is exporting pharmaceuticals products in 150 countries and Bangladesh is also registered with 70 more countries to export. Bangladesh got first position in USA at HSBC Pharmaceuticals index. Goldman sachs selected 11 countries to import pharmaceuticals products where Bangladesh is included. He also said that 95 percent raw material of pharmaceuticals we get in locally, which is a great advantage for us. So, we should have to utilize this advantage, he added.
Nazmul Hasan also said, Bangladesh will be changed through the contribution of our young generation who are too much meritorious, courageous and. They are totally different from others, they are industrious and they have unbounded patriotism in their heart. For these three components, Bangladeshi young people can transform impossible into possible. The young cricketers are proving that again and again, he added.
Inspiring the students Nazmul Hasan said, if it is possible to bring success from cricket, why not from other sectors? If young people get proper guideline and proper environment they must come out with success. For become success in life, the students must have to study hard first, improve their self confidence level and finally have to have strong determination.
There are lots of opportunities to build career in pharmaceutical sector in nationally and also in international arena. So, you have to make yourself as skilled as per requirement of global market, he added
Dr Md. Sabur Khan said that once upon a time Bangladesh was known to world market as labour exported country. But, now the scenario is changed. LotS of Bangladeshi pharmacist, chemist and microbiologist, ICT experts are working in good positions in different countries around the world. That’s why pharmaceutical sector has performed as the second largest source of foreign currency after garments sector. To enhance this sector we have to create lots of skilled pharmacists, he added.
Dr Sabur Khan also said, Bangladesh is a country of natural calamities and beset with manifold problems. But, even though, sometimes these natural calamities can open the door of opportunities. For example, he cite the name of ICDDR’B.
ICDDR’B flourishes its name through work in perspective of Bangladesh. So, there exists a hidden opportunity always stay behind every problem. He urged the students to find out those opportunities through utilizing their talent, wisdom and hard work
