Daffodil International University (DIU) celebrated its 14th Foundation Anniversary on Saturday with great enthusiasm and in a colorful manner and festive mood at Ashulia permanent campus of the university.
To mark the occasion, a weeklong inter-departmental sports competition, Math Olympiad, cultural competition and IT Quiz have already arranged. The day long program will include Bus Rally, Pitha Utshab, Blood Donation Program, discussion, Picnic, Tree Plantation, Games and Sports, fun events and raffle draw, picnic and live concert.
Annisul Huq, Mayor, Dhaka North City was the chief guest of the function while many other country’s renowned personalities, celebrities and dignitaries will attend the program. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, DIU presided over the program. The function was addressed, among others, by Prof Dr Yousuf M Islam, Vice- Chancellor, Hamidul Haque Khan, Treasurer, Prof Dr SM Mahbubul Haque Majumder, Dean, Faculty of Science and Information Technology, Prof Rafiqul Islam, Dean, Faculty of Business and Economics, Prof.M Shamsul Alam, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Prof AMM Hamidur Rahman, Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Science, Prof Dr Ahmed Ismail Mostafa, Dean, Faculty of Allied Health Science, Prof Dr Eng AKM Fazlul Haque.
Annisul Huq said, people are equal to dream and sometimes higher than dream. Peoples dream until death and your dream is just starting to become success and great, you must have to dream. He advised the students to read the life of great man and good books.
Rememorizing his personal life he said, for my success and all the achievements, the main inspiration of my life was my mother. He also advised the students to be obedient and loyal to their parents and teachers. He urged the students to utilize the vast facilities and opportunity of time befitting quality education to build their prospective career.
Highlighting the glorious achievement of the university since its inception Chairman of the University Md. Sabur Khan said, students of this university will gain world-class education through education exchange program with world’s renowned universities and get the opportunity to justify themselves in the world job market.
DIU will be the country’s highest higher educational institution within next five years, he added. He also said, most of the graduates of this university have got the job placement in higher positions of nationally and internationally renowned organizations, among DIU graduates 700 became successful entrepreneurs who created job placement for more than 5000 people. He advised the students not to seek job, rather to become entrepreneur and he assured whole hearted cooperation from university.
Daffodil International University started its academic activities with only 68 students in January 24, 2002. Now the number of enrolled student is more than 16000. Due to its quality education and outstanding performance the university could make position among ten top graded private universities of Bangladesh as per evaluation of the UGC.
