DIU 2nd Convocation held

The 2nd Convocation of Dhaka International University (DIU) was held recently at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) in the city.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid presided over the ceremony on behalf of the university Chancellor President Md Abdul Hamid.
Prof Dr Meshbahuddin Ahmed, Former Vice-Chancellor of Jagannath University & Head, Quality Assurance Unit of the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh, was present as Convocation Speaker.
23 graduates were awarded the chancellor’s award and 51 graduates were awarded the Vice-Chancellor’s award For their outstanding results in undergraduate and post graduate programmes. More than 1,200 graduates from different faculties of the DIU were conferred degrees at the convocation.
Prof Dr K M Mohsin, Vice-Chancellor, DIU; was delivered welcome address while Dr S Q Patwari, Chairman, Board of Trustees; Barrister Shameem Haider Patwary, Vice-Chairman, BoT; Prof Dr Moinul Islam, Treasurer were present along with the members of the board, syndicate, academic council, deans, registrar, faculty members, guardians and other guests.
Education Minister said private universities have been playing a vital role in providing higher education for the students. He also mentioned that some private universities are not following rules and regulation of UGC and government will take actions against them.
The second session of the ceremony was emceed by RaisuL Islam Sourav, Coordinator, Department of Law & Asst. Prof Mili Rahman, Chairperson, Department of English, DIU. At the end graduates were enjoying concert show by LRB.
