Homna UNO infected with Covid-19

Homna upazila nirbahi officer Tapti Chakma has been infected with coronavirus.
The samples of the UNO, his private driver and night guard as well as 17 others from Cumilla tested positive on Sunday, according to Homna civil surgeon office. With these, total coronavirus cases have now reached 109 in the district.
The UNO said that she is undergoing treatment staying at his government residence.
A total of 1,37,787 coronavirus cases, out of the 7,30,197 tests carried out in Bangladesh, have turned out to be positive.
Health authorities confirmed 3,809 new cases after testing 18,099 samples in a span of 24 hours till Sunday. The infection rate was recorded 21.05 percent for the day. Since March 18, the government said 1,738 people have died of COVID-19.
In the last 24 hours, 43 people died from the highly contagious disease with the mortality rate still hovering around 1.26 percent.

BSD introduces Oxygen Bank to save corona infected people

Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (BSD) started oxygen bank and round the clock Medicare services in the city for corona suspected and infected patients.
With the slogan ` Bina Oxygeney Jhorey Porbey Na Kono Pran (none will die due to lack of oxygen)’ they inaugurated this imitative with five oxygen cylinder and 30 oxy-meters at their party office on Monday noon.

Dr. Manisha Chakraborty, member secretary of district BSD, in inaugural programme of the service, said many corona infected patient died in lack of proper and speedy testing and supply of oxygen facilities and timely treatment. For this we started this initiative of oxygen-bank. If anyone needing help call or inform us, then our volunteers will rush to his door step for giving free Medicare services and count oxygen supply position with oxy-meter and after testing we will supply oxygen cylinder, if he needs. We also bring the patient to the hospital in case of any emergency medical need including suspected corona infection, Dr. Manisha added.

Over 1600 infected, 19 dead in Mymensingh

In the district, 17 more people have been infected with the deadly virus corona. The number of victims is increasing day by day and the number of casualties too. The hope is that the number of sudden attacks in Mymensingh has decreased.
Last Friday night, 332 samples were tested in the district where, 17 people tested positive.
Earlier on Thursday, only 12 out of 311 samples in the district were positive. The reports were known from the results of the sample tested at the PCR Lab of Mymensingh Medical College.
Among the 17 corona positive, the breakup is: Bhaluka-5, Haluaghat-5, Mymensingh Sadar and City Corporation-5, Iswarganj-1, Nandail-1, Health Department has confirmed the matter. The number of infected persons in this district so far is 1613.

CU gets new Proctor, Registrar

Associate Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department Robiul Hasan Bhuiyan and Professor Dr. SM Monirul Hasan of Sociology department have been appointed as the Proctor and Acting Registrar of Chittagong University (CU) respectively on Monday. An Office Order signed by KM Noor Ahmmed, acting registrar, confirmed the matter.
The University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shireen Akter appointed them as part of the rules.
The Vice-Chancellor of university appointed Robiul Hasan Bhuiyan as a Proctor for the tenure of next one year replacing SM Monirul Hasan and she also appointed SM Monirul Hasan as an Acting Registrar for the tenure of next two years replacing KM Noor Ahmed who is going to retirement on 30 June this year.
Professor Monirul Hasan is appointed as the 20th Registrar of the University. He had previously been appointed as proctor. He was also Provost of Sir AF Rahman Hall for three consecutive terms.
On the other hand, Rabiul Hasan joined at the university on January 18, 2010 as a teacher.
He is also the current provost of Shaheed Abdur Rob Hall of the University.

Flood situation worsened in Kurigram

The overall flood situation has been worsened in Kurigram district. Kurigram District Relief and Rehabilitation Official (DRRO) sources said some 357 villages of 55 unions out of 76 of all the nine upazilas are flood affected.
Some 500 families are victims of river erosion and 37 kilometer kacha(non-metalled)roads have been damaged by flood water. Kurigram Water Development Board control room sources said water level of the Brahmaputra River was flowing 76cm above danger mark at Chilmari point and 63 above at Noonkhawa point and Dharla River 73 cm above danger mark at Dharla bridge point at 3pm on Monday.
A number of people forced to take shelter on road side, flood control embankment and other high lands as their houses have gone under waist and chest deep water.
While talking to The New Nation, Tunku 55, Rafikul 61, a widow Anowara 50 and Shahida 45 of village Maddhogram under Bhogdanga union of Kurigram Sadar upazila told this correspondent on Monday. Our houses have gone under waist deep water. We have taken shelter with our belongings on Kurigram-Bhurungamari road side holding temporary room with polythene. We are agricultural day labourers. We have no money in our hands. We are passing our days taking half feed”.
A total of 30 families have taken shelter here and they are leading their lives under the open sky in sub-human condition. Same scenario was found at the Brahmaputra river side at Rajibpur, Ulipur and Chilmari upazila, public representatives said.

Tk 52 lakh realised as corona fine in Barishal

More than fifty-two lakh taka realised as fine for violating corona prevention regulations in Barishal district in last three and half months.
Media cell of district administration said from March 10 to 28th June mobile court teams operated 407 drives in different areas of Barishal district including city corporation area.
During these drives total Tk. 52,54,885 realised as fine from 800 persons and 737 enterprises.
Besides fifty-seven persons jailed and 13 business enterprises fined for violating regulations imposed against corona prevention lockdown, sources added.
S M Ajiar Rahman, deputy commissioner Barishal, said these types of drives will continue for public interest till full remission of the covid-19 pandemic.
He also asked the mass people to create awareness against unnecessary roaming and always wearing mask to prevent spreading pandemic.

46 infected in 24 hrs in Barishal

Corona situation continued to deteriorate in Barishal district as 46 detected corona positive in Barishal district within last 24 hours and the number of positive infected persons crossed fourteen hundred till Monday June 29.
Out of 1, 422 corona persons of the district 267 were cured after treatment and backed home.
The media cell of the district administration revealed this fact through their web site on Monday noon.
Among the newly infected 46 corona-positive persons, 1 was member of Barishal Metroplitan Police, 1 was from rage reserve force, 5 were from district police, 1 was intern doctor, 5 were nurses of Barishal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital, 2 were bankers, 4 were from Barishal city, and 27 were from different upazilas of the district.
