On the occasion of the 44th founding of BNP, the District BNP held a press conference to protest against the police attack during a peaceful procession in Manikganj on Thursday.
Advisor to BNP Chairperson and President of Manikganj District BNP Afroza Khan Rita, Vice President Advocate Azad Hossain Khan, Organizing Secretary Nurtaz Alam Bahar addressed the press conference organized at Sadar Upazila Giland Munnu City on Thursday.
At the press conference, Afroza Khan Rita said that around 11 am, BNP leaders and activists tried to go to the party office with a peaceful procession in the Khalpar Bridge area. The police threw tearcells at the leaders and chased them with batons. At least half a hundred activists were injured by police batons.
Besides, Sadar Upazila BNP leader Fazlul Haque, Jubo Dal leader Salim and 5 BNP workers were arrested by the police. The speakers strongly protested the incident from the conference and demanded the immediate release of those arrested.
