Wheelchairs were distributed among 20 disabled children inLalmonirhat Sadar Upazila at Sheikh Russell Shishu Park in the municipality on Wednesday (October 26) with the funding of Bangladeshi Canadian Citizens and in collaboration with Tarunyer Alo Samaj Kalyan Sangstha and social organization Path organized by voluntary organization ‘Something Foundation’.
Lalmonirhat Deputy Commissioner was the chief guest. Abu Jafar. Among others, Abdur Rahim Babu, representative of Do Something Foundation, Farman Ali, District Disability Affairs Officer, Mridul Habib, President of Social Organization Path, Shahid Islam Sujan, President of Tarunyer Alo Samaj Kalyan Sangstha, Nurnabi Islam, volunteer of Do Something Foundation and Shafiqul Islam Bij, volunteer.
The deputy commissioner said that according to the 2013 survey, there are many children with special needs in the district. Officially various assistance is being given to them. In addition, the initiative of ‘Do Something Foundation’ is highly commendable.
Regarding the distribution of wheelchairs, Abdur Rahim, a representative of ‘Do Something Foundation’, said, ‘For a few days now, our representative has been listing in collaboration with volunteers from local organizations in the area. These chairs have been provided to 20 people who are in need of a wheelchair and cannot afford to buy a chair.
