Food minister visiting Barishal on Wednesday expressed dissatisfaction about Aman paddy procurement drive in the region.
The minister was attending a meeting with officials of food and agriculture departments, administrations and representatives of farmers.
Yamin Chowdhury, divisional commissioner Barishal presided over the meeting at the conference room of the deputy commissioner’s office in Barishal on Wednesday noon.
If the paddy procurement target in Barishal would not be full filled, then paddy would be collected from other region to recover the target, the food minister told the officials.
He also cautioned that farmers would not be harassed in anyway and paddy loading and unloading charges would never be demanded from them.
If government supplied rice would be found in any private goodown or private mill, then hard action would be taken against the liable persons, the minister added
