The workers of a readymade garments (RMG) factory named ‘Yagi Bangladesh’ protested dismissal of 20 of their colleagues and staged demonstration on Monday at Ashulia.
Quoting the locals, Ashulia Industrial Police-1 Director Mostafizur Rahman confirmed the news and said that the workers were staging a peaceful strike against the sacking of 20 workers.
The workers went to the factory at Beron area on Monday morning as usual, but they saw a dismissal notice of 20 workers.
Following the notice on the board, the workers started demonstration and brought out a procession, the police officials said.
Additional police forces had been deployed in the area to avoid any untoward situation, he added.
All the workers of the factory abstained from work on the day, sources said.
