A discussion meeting on the life and works of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam was held at Melandha in Jamalpur on Wednesday at 4 pm at the office of Melandah Reporters Unity. It was jointly organized by Melandah Reporters Unity and Saikat Sahitya Sangsad. The discussion was held on the occasion of the 122nd birth anniversary of Nazrul Islam. Mayor Alhaj Shafiq Jahedi Robin addressed the meeting as the chief guest under the chairmanship of Shah Jamal, President of Daily Ittefaq’s Reporters’ Unity and Founder Director of Saikat Sahitya Sangsad.
The main speaker was Nazrul Islam Sadhu, the director of Bangladesh Betar Desh Amar Mati Amar, Sonali Fasal. Kazi Nazrul Islam spoke on the life and work of Jamalpur District Press Club President Advocate Yusuf Ali (Jaijaydin), renowned playwright Asadullah Faraji, Shilpakala Academy Award winning cultural activist Abul Mansur Khan Dulal, Adra A: Mannan High School Assistant Poet and Assistant Headmaster Farhad Hossain, correspondent of Ittefaq-Shaheen Al Amin, President of Bakshiganj Press Club, Founder Editor of Daily Palli Alo and Principal of Ghughumari College AFM. Mahbubur Rahman, President of Saikat Sahitya Sangsad-Nazrul Researcher-Katha Sahityak and KGM Mahar Sobahan Mofiz Uddin High School Headmaster SM. Zulfiqar Ali Lebu, General Secretary of Uttaran Socio-Cultural Organization Mohabbat Ali Fakir, Lecturer of Islampur Degree College Mahbubul Hasan Mashuk,
Gazi Mazharul Islam Khan, Ariful Islam Lavlu, Shakil Ahmed, President of Janani Bangla Sahitya Sangsad recited self-written poems about Kazi Nazrul. Farid Islam, General Secretary of Melandah Reporters’ Unity, was present on the occasion. Kazi Nazrul’s program turned into a gathering of poets, writers and journalists of Melandah Upazila.
