Dipu Lal of Nordic Club earned the double crown in the Independence Day Runner Open Tennis Tournament clinching the men’s singles and doubles titles beating their opponents in the finals at Ramna National Tennis Complex here on Monday.
Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports Arif Khan Joy distributed the prizes as the chief guest in the final.
Acting Youth and Sports Secretary Kazi Akhteruddin Ahmed, Secretary General of Bangladesh Olympic Association Syed Shahed Reza and Chairman of the meet’s sponsor Hafizur Rahman Khan were also present at the closing function as special guests.
Dipu Lal lifted the men’s singles title beating Amol Roy of Engineers Recreation Club by 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 games while he shared the doubles crown with Anwar Hossain defeating Mahmudul Haque and Hasibul Haque pair by 7-6, 3-6, 10-8 game in the finals.
Afrana Islam Prity of BKSP won the women’s singles title beating her compatriot Popy Akhter by 6-3, 6-4 game in the final.
The women’s doubles title went to Eshita and Joya partner, who beat BKSP pair Priti and Luxmi by 6-4, 6-4 game.
