Digital Innovation Fairs-2015 begins today

Digital Innovation Fairs-2015 will begin today aiming to motivate and sensitize the people on ICT-based services to supplement the government’s efforts to build “Digital Bangladesh” as envisioned by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
“The fairs will be held in all 64 districts in phases. The fairs will be held in districts in separate schedule times from December 24 to January 30,” Kabir Bin Anwar, Project Director of Access to Information (a2i) programmes of Prime Minister Office, told a press conference at Press Information Department (PID) here today.
Kabir said among the digital innovation fairs, first one will be held at Narsingdi tomorrow ending on December 26.
Information Secretary Martuza Ahmed and senior officials of Department of Mass Communication and the a2i programme, among others, addressed the press conference.
Martuza urged both print and electronic media to project success stories of the digital fair to inspire the people to acquire knowledge on ICT, which will make them competent citizens.
“Media has a strong role in case of any positive change of society. I hope both print and electronic media will play their important role in expansion of IT to supplement the government’s endeavors to build technologically advanced country,” he added.
Since 2010, the digital innovation fairs are being held every year aiming to involve rural people in the ICT based services, Kabir said adding, the digital innovation fairs held in previous years got huge response from grassroots level people. “We hope the digital innovations fairs will contribute significantly to build “Digital Bangladesh,” he added.
Kabir said each digital fair will be held for three days, which will start from 10am and continue till 8am.
Different government and private organizations will set up stalls at the fairs aiming to display their ICT-based innovations, he added.
The a2i programme sources said alongside arranging different kinds of competitions, seminars on ICT innovation also will be held in the fairs.
