Dhaliwood gets new cine-star when model Sonia Hossain, who’s gained widespread recognition recently for her dazzling performance in television drama serials, has just been cast in her first film role as heroine. She is set to enter the silver screen alongside her costar Shipon in Alvi Ahmed directed and Versatile Media produced action movie based on the story of an underworld Mafia family and its organized crimes, the ‘U-turn’. The supporting casts include Shahiduzzaman Selim, Arshad Adnan, Moutushi Biswas, Zannat-ul Ferdous Pia, Shahidul Alam Sacchu and Misha Sawdagor. Besides, noted singer Kona will perform in the film in a special role. Sonia will perform in ‘U-turn’ in the role of a poor girl who lives in the city slum. Despite crimes, the movie will also celluloid different aspects of the human life including love affairs of a girl, who fights against her destiny. “I like the story of the ‘U-turn’. My role is very challenging as well as interesting. It is unparallel. I’m a girl of a low-income group family. I was born and brought- up in the slum,” she was giving some tips about the story after signing the film. Expressing satisfaction, she said, “I was very much eager to perform in the silver screen from the very beginning. But my dream was not full-filled as I didn’t get a good script and character…Now, I have closely observed the dresses of slum girls and their daily routine activities to make my role truthful. “My cine-hero is Shipon, who has recently worked in the film-‘Desha the Leader’. No doubt, the U-turn will be a commercial film. However, I will be ready to perform in such films in the future those are outside of the general trends. I may work a little but it must be up-to-the-mark. I will work in selected films.” The shooting of the film will begin from October 10 at different eye-catching spots of Dhaka and Chittagong. It will be completed within 40 days without any interruption. Sonia had stepped in the media world through “U got the Look” competition in 2003, where she was best five ranking. Later she worked in some television advertisements. She was detached from the media for last few years for higher education in the UK, where she obtained a degree in law.
