Dhaka is going to under the coverage of 5G network soon as the department concern has submitted a project of Tk 236.54 crore in this regard to the Planning Commission.
The proposed project has been under taken considering the expansion of mobile users and networks across the country.
About 54 per cent people are under the coverage of mobile services at this moment across the country. Of the users, about 41 percent use smart-phones. “We have planned to introduce 5G network commercially in some parts of Dhaka Metropolitan area in the initial stage. So, 5G network will introduce in the country by 2023 If the project is implemented,” Planning Secretary Mamun Al Rashid told this correspondent.
The project has already been evaluated by the project evaluation committee (PEC) and expected it will be placed before the ECNEC for approval, sources said.
