Onik stars of MSC 2-wicket victory

Qazi Onik’s six-wicket haul helped Mohammedan Sporting Club limited to earn a hard-fought two-wickets victory over Kalabagan Krira Chakra in the eleventh round match of Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League on Tuesday.
Chasing a winning target of 261 runs set by Kalabagan, Mohammedan reached home scoring 263 courtesy of half centuries from Enamul Haque (2) (57) and Rony Talukder (51) for the loss of eight wickets with for balls to spare.
Sanjit Saha was the most successful bowler as he claimed three Mohammedan’s wickets conceding 48 runs while Nahid Hasan and Mahmudul Hasan shared two wickets for 38 and 52 runs respectively.
Earlier, former national skipper Mohammad Ashraful scored a blistering 127 runs as Kalabagan posted a competitive total of 260 for all in 47.5 overs, after they opted to bat first at BKSP ground in Savar.
The former national skipper Ashraful hammered 13 boundaries and three over boundaries. He also involved two partnerships – the first 85-run second wicket stand with Waliul Karim 46) and the other with 82-run with Mahmudul Hasan (31) for the third wicket stand – during his 124-ball stay on the crease.
Qazi Onik, the wrecker in-chief, as he grabbed six Kalabagn’s wickets for 49 runs while Mohammad Azim took two for also 49.
Onik of Mohammedan was named the player of the match for his fierce bowling spells.

Nafees leads Agrani Bank to victory

A captaincy knock of 82-run from Shahriar Nafees helped Agrani Bank Cricket Club to earn an overwhelming six-wicket victory over Legends of Rupganj in the eleventh round match of Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League on Tuesday.
Nafees struck 10 boundaries from 103-ball as Agarani Bank chase down the target making 210 for the loss of four wickets with 17 balls to spare. Nafees also involved 76-run opening stand with Soumya Sarkar who added 24.
Later Dhiman Ghosh (49 n.o) pairing with Shamsur Rahman ( 41) contributed 76-run for the fourth wicket stand taking their side closer to the victory.
Asif Hasan captured two Agrani Bank’s wickets conceding 46 runs.
Earlier, Tushgar Imran fell two runs short from his century but Rupganj able to score a decent total of 204 for 9 from their allotted 50 overs after they were asked to bat first by Agrani Bank at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at Mirpur.
Tushar hit eight boundaries and one over boundary during his 121-ball stay on the crease and hardly got support from other end to stretch the innings after Rupganj suffered early batting jolt losing 4 for 33.
Wickets fell in regular intervals and Rupganj’s batsmen could not fight back in the match.
Al-Amin Hossain was the pick of Agrani Bank bowlers as he grabbed four Rupganj’s wickets giving away 44 runs. He was well supported by Abdur Razzak and Shafiul Islam who both claimed two wickets each for 33 and 36 runs respectively.
Shahriar Nafees of Agrani Bank was named the player of the match for his impressive batting performance.

Sunny sets up Sheikh Jamal’s victory

An all-round performance came from Elias Sunny saw Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club to manage a 74-run victory over Brothers Union Club in a low scoring eleventh round encounter of Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League on Tuesday.
Put to bat first by Brothers, Sheikh Jamal were dismissed at a paltry total of 184 in 47.1 overs at Khan SHAHEB Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah.
The highlight of Sheikh Jamla’s dilapidated innings was opener Shykat Ali’s responsible 55 runs.
Tanbir Hayder (33) and Elias Sunny (31) were the other notable scorers for Sheikh Jamal.
Khaled Ahmed was the pick of Brothers’ bowler as he claimed three Sheikh Jamal’s wickets conceding 41 runs. He was well supported by Shakhawat Hossain, Sohrawordi Shuvo and Alok Kapali who all bagged two wickets apiece giving away 25, 32and 39 runs respectively.
In reply, Brothers Union Club found the chase stiff as they were bundled out for 110 in 39.2 overs. Four Brothers Union batsmen able to reach the double figure as wickets fell in regular intervals in the face of tight bowling display by the Sheikh Jamal’s bowlers.
Elias Sunny and Sohag Gazi were the most successful bowlers as they hauled three Brothers’ wickets each giving away 22 and 36 runs respectively. They were well supported by Abu Jayed who took two for 22 runs.
Elias Sunny of Sheikh Jamal was named the player of the match for his all-round performance.
