Dhaka and Narayanganj districts made a good start in the eight-team final round of the Sailors BFF National U-15 Football Championship that began here on Sunday.
Dhaka District earned a 2-1 goals victory Jessore District in the opening match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium Sunday afternoon.
After a barren first half, Rubel and Emon scored one goal each for Dhaka in the 55th and 69th minutes respectively while Bony netted the lone goal for Jessore in the added time (91 minute).
Earlier Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports Arif Khan Joy inaugurated the meet as the chief guest. Director of meet’s sponsor Epyllion Group M. Junaid Abu Saleh Musa was also present as special guest.
At the Dhanmondi Abahani ground, Narayanganj District made a flying start outplaying Thakurgaon District by 5-1 goals.
Imran and Mridul struck two goals each while Ibrahim netted the other goal for Narayanganj District, which dominated the first half by 3-0 goals.
Shanta netted the consolation goal for Thakurgaon District in the 2nd half.
Eight zonal champions teams-Dhaka, Narayanganj, Thakurgaon and Jessore DFAs were put in Group A while Sylhet, Barisal, Feni and Natore DFAs in Group B through a ceremonial draw held last Wednesday.
Monday’s matches: Sylhet District vs Natore District at 3:30 pm (Bangabandhu National Stadium); Barisal District vs Feni District at 3:30 pm (Dhanmondi Abahani ground).
