Dhaka, Moscow to sign deal on inter-govt commission in June

Bangladesh and the Russian have agreed to sign an agreement on the establishment of an intergovernmental commission between the two countries in June next to strengthen trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation, according to a press release.
Both sides have already finalised the draft agreement and decided that this deal will be signed during the proposed visit of Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali to the Russian Federation in June.
The decision came during the Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) between Bangladesh and Russia held in Moscow on Monday, said the Foreign Ministry here on Tuesday.
Both sides discussed all the aspects of the existing relations between the two countries at the meeting held at the historic State Guest House.
They stressed upon, in particular, early conclusions of some bilateral instruments to further strengthen mutual cooperation in trade, economy, education, scientific/ technical and defense areas.
The two sides underscored the need for regular two-way high-level visits to take the relations to a new height, and identified potential areas for enhanced cooperation such as ICT and telecom, food grain, minerals and fertiliser, pharmaceuticals, including RMG.
