DGHS seeks additional Tk 105cr for hospitality, publicity of vaccination prog

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has demanded Tk 105 crore for hospitality, publicity, and advertisement of vaccination programme in the country.
In the meantime, Finance Ministry has allocated Tk 1,057 crore on two occasions for procuring and administrating of Oxford-AstraZeneca’s vaccine Covishield produced by Serum Institute of India (SII).
During that time, FM did not allocate money for hospitality and others where as DGHS has demanded budget for those.
Director General (DG) of DGHS Dr ABM Khurshid Alam said, we demanded that money after calculating properly for proving meals for those who are related with the vaccination programme.
DG said, we did not urge for more money, as how much money do we need for a man daily? We do not know.
Along with government employee, the volunteers have been appointed for running the vaccination activities smoothly. It looks inhuman if we don’t give them minimum daily allowance for food, he added.

Khurshid Alam said, to make the people interest for taking vaccine and tackle the rumors over vaccination programme that money has demanded.
By the demand of DGHS, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has sent a letter to Finance Division on January 27.
In the letter it was said that in FY 2020-2021, it requested to allocate Tk 105 crore for the purchase of vaccine to prevent Covid-19.
In this case, an allocation of Tk 90 crore was sought for hospitality expenses while Tk 15 crore for publicity and advertisement expenses.
The Department of Health said that 44,564 workers would be vaccinated every day from 8 am to 4 pm in the vaccination programme.
