DGHS reports 24 new virus deaths, infection crosses 30,000

Twenty four persons died from coronavirus infections, while another 1,694 tested positive in the last 24 hours in Bangladesh.
 “With the new cases, the death toll rose to 432 and the number of infections to 30,205,” said Professor Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), it in a regular press briefing in Dhaka on Friday.  
The number of fatalities recorded so was the highest of the single day figure in the country.
The DGHS official said that 9,727 samples were tested out of 9,993 specimens at 47 labs across the country in the last 24 hours.
She said that 2,48,823 samples were tested across the country so far.
She said that 588 more Covid-19 patients recovered and got released from different hospitals during the period totalling the number to 6,190.
The recovery rate from the disease currently stands at 20.49 percent, according to DGHS data.
A total of 225 people were put under isolation in the last 24 hours, she added.
Among the deceased, 13 were from Dhaka, nine from Chattogram, one from Barishal and another from Mymensingh Division.
Of them, five were between 21-30 years old, three between 31-40, two between 41-50, five within 51-60, six between 61-70, two within 71-80 and other was within 81-90 years old, Dr Nasima also said.
Earlier, Bangladesh reported the record number of new coronavirus cases 1,773 and 22 deaths — in 24 hours until Thursday morning.
