Director General level border coordination conference between Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) and Border Security Force (BSF) of India will begin from today in New Delhi.
This is the first Director General Level Border Co-ordination Conference after the historic visit of Bangladesh by Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India.
A 22-member high level delegation of Bangladesh, headed by Maj Gen Aziz Ahmed, psc, Director General, Border Guard Bangladesh has arrived on Sunday in New Delhi.
The 24-member Indian delegation headed by Shri D K Pathak, IPS, Director
General, Border Security Force, along with senior officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of External Affairs and other Law Enforcement Agencies will join the conference.
The first session of the Border coordination conference between the BSF and BGB will be held on August 3 from 10 to 11 am at BSF HQrs, CGOComplex, New Delhi.
During the conference, senior officers of BSF, MHA, MEA, NIA and other sister agencies along with Survey of India are going to take part in bi-lateral talks. The conference is being organized to discuss the border related issues for better coordination between the both border guarding forces.
During the course of conference, the issues of Trans-border crimes, Smuggling of FICNc, activities of Indian insurgent groups, Prevention of illegal migration, Joint efforts for effective implementation of CBMP, Confidence Building Measures etc. will be discussed.
On August 6, in the concluding session, signing of Joint Record of Discussions between the DG BSF and DG BGB will commence. This will be followed by a joint media briefing at BSF HQrs, CGO Complex, New Delhi.
The visiting Bangladeshi delegation will meet Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Secretary and other senior officers of the ministry. The last BSF-BGB Border Co-ordination Conference was held in December 2014 in Dhaka. This is the 41st such meeting between the Chiefs of both the border guarding forces. A special friendly Handball Match between the teams of BSF and BGB will be held at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium on August 5 at 6pm.
