Developing eco- friendly tourism in Guava cultivation area stressed

Chairman of Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation on Saturday stressed on developing eco- friendly tourism in Guava cultivation area.
Akhtaruzzaman Khan Kabir, Chairman of BTC, was visiting the floating market in Guava cultivation region at Kuriana under Swarupkathi Upazila of Pirojpur and Vimruli under Sadar upazila of Jhalakahi district.
During this visit he exchanged views with the local farmers, Guava cultivators and traders.
Addressing on a gathering at Kurina, the BTC chairman said in other countries floating markets created artificially for developing tourism industry. But in this region of our country it created and flourished naturally with traditional heritage and flavours.
So government now thinks about developing river-based tourism in our riverine country.
For these tourist facilities in the area by constructing rest house, floating hotel and motel, safe water transportation etc should be created in Guava cultivation and floating market region.
However local people should also be inclined with this effort to promote their standards of live, the BTC chairman added.
The programme was presided over by Shekhar Shikdar, UP chairman of Kuriana and on behalf of the local people was addressed among others by Md. Wahiduzzaman, upazila chairman, M L Kabir, Mayor of Swarupkathi.
The local people called for developing communication facilities, agro-based industrialisations and giving incentives to the cultivators for developing eco-tourism in this region.
