Dev Memorial Lecture held at DU

Dev Centre for Philosophical Studies of the Department of Philosophy of Dhaka University(DU) organised “Dev Memorial Lecture-2014” on Wednesday at the RC Majumder Arts Building of the university.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique attended the programme as the chief guest while Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Nasreen Ahmad presided over it.
The Dean of the Faculty of Arts Prof Dr Akhtaruzzaman was present on the occasion as special guest as Prof Dr Syed Anwar Hossain of the Department of History of the university presented the Key-note paper titled “Humanism in Bengal: Eight to Eighteen Century”.
Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique in his speech acknowledged Prof Dev with due respect for his great contribution in the Liberation War for sacrificing his own life.
He mentioned that students of the new generation would be immensely benefitted by following the philosophy and ethics of this internationally acclaimed philosopher.
DU VC urged all to be educated in the real sense and devote themselves for the welfare of human kind. He stressed the need for self realisation so that people would be able to work together for social welfare as well as development.
Later, the Vice Chancellor unveiled the magazines published by the Dev Centre.
