Dev Fair begins

A three day- long Development Fair was inaugurated at Old DDC Court premises on Monday morning.
Lawmaker of Jhenaidah-1 constituency and Awami League District Committee president Abdul Hyee inaugurated the fair as chief guest.
 Presided over by deputy commissiner Mahbub Alam Talukder, lawmaker of Jhenaidah 2 constituency Tahjib Alam Siddiquee Somi, municipality mayor, also AL district unit secretary Saidul Karim Mintu, Additional police super Azbahar Ali Seikh, LGED executive enginner Abdul Malek, deputy director of department of agriculture extension Shah Akramuil Haque, civil surgeon Dr. Rashida Sultana, deputy director of family planning Dr. Jahidul Islam attended as special guests. Earlier a colourful rally paraded the town with slogans.
A total of 60 stalls were provided from different governmental and non-governmental organizations, where the stall of the department of agriculture extension and cotton development board drew the attention of the visitors.
BSS from Faridpur adds: After formal inauguration of the three-day countrywide ‘Development Fair-2017’ by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the Faridpur chapter of the event began here on Monday afternoon.
Deputy commissioner (DC) of Faridpur Umme Salma Tanzia along with officials and public representatives kicked off the fair through releasing balloons and pigeons on Ambica Memorial ground.
DC Tanzia, Faridpur Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman Kh. Mohtesham Hossain Babor and Police Super Subhash Chandra Saha spoke on the occasion.
A discussion meeting on ‘Liberation Struggle and Anti-militancy’ was held on the fair premises.
Cultural activist Sirajee Kabir Khokon presented the keynote paper on the subject. CEO of Zila Parishad Md Abdur Rashid presided over the discussion.
It was addressed, among others, by cultural activist Shawkat Ali Zahid, Rajendra College Principal Prof Moshrraf Ali, Muktijoddha Commander Abul Faez and newly elected chairman of Faridpur Zila Parishad Lokman Hossain Mridha.
