Determining additional admission fees in secondary schools in Baufal in defiance of government restrictions

Ignoring the government ban, the teachers fixed additional fees for admission in schools in Baufal upazila of Patuakhali district in the new year. The secondary education officer instructed the teachers to it.
During the Corona period, the government has banned any kind of fee in at least 7 sectors. But the Upazila Secondary Education Officer pointed the finger at the ban and instructed the educational institutions to charge extra fees. This has created a mixed reaction among students and parents.
According to sources, on December 28, Baufal Upazila Secondary Education Officer Nazmul Haque sent a letter to the heads of all educational institutions.
Earlier on November 18, a meeting was held with the heads of 61 secondary schools and 66 Dakhil Madrasas in Baufal Upazila.
At that meeting a convening committee was formed to fix admission fees in all the educational institutions of the upazila. The committee was convened by Maryam Begum Nishu, Vice-Chairman of Baufal Upazila Parishad and headmaster of Chitka Mohsin Secondary School. According to the decision of the convening committee, the fee for each school was fixed Tk 2,620 for sixth class, Tk 2,620 in seventh grade, Tk 3,020 in eighth grade, Tk 3,220 in ninth grade and Tk 3,520 in 10th grade. Fees have also been levied on government-banned assignments, Tiffin, re-admission, library, science library, magazine and development sector.
Upazila Secondary Education Officer Nazmul Haque has sent a letter to all educational institutions to implement the decision.
