Staff Reporter :A woman and her uncle-in-law were killed by unknown miscreants in the Eastern Housing area of the city’s Pallabi area, Mirpur on Wednesday afternoon.The victims were identified as Sweety Khatun, 24, wife of Zahid Hossain, an engineer of Dhaka Electric Supply Company (DESCO), and Sweety’s maternal uncle-in-law Aminul Islam, 44. They hailed from Sirajganj district, police said.Quoting the local people, Jasim Uddin, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Mirpur Division) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police said two persons, claiming themselves as relatives of the deceased entered the boundary and pressed calling bell of House No. 25 on the fourth floor, Road No. 6, Pallabi, Dhaka. When Sweety opened the door, the stranger started hacking her. After hearing the screaming, her maternal father-in-law, who was inside the room, ran to her. Then, they also hacked him. The miscreants left the house, leaving them dead on the spot, the police official said.Pallabi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Seyed Ziauzzaman said that police recovered the bodies from the flat on the fourth floor of the house styled ‘Crystal de Amin’ located in Pallabi in the afternoon.Police detained at least three persons, including the guard of the house, in this connection, he said.They being interrogated in this connection, the OC said. The police officer said that the attack took place around noon and that the bodies werew sent to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital morgue for post-mortem.However, the reasons behind the killings could not be known yet, the OC said. “We are investigating the incident and trying to arrest the miscreants,” he added.
