Depression over Bay

The depression over Southwest Bay and adjoining area moved West-Northwestwards and intensified into a deep depression over the same area.
The depression was centred at 06 am on Monday about 1720 kms Southwest of Chittagong Port, 1665 kms Southwest of Cox’s Bazar Port, 1555 kms Southwest of Mongla Port and 1580 kms Southwest of Payra Port, said a special bulletin of Meteorological Department on Monday.
“The well-marked low over Southwest Bay and adjoining area concentrated into a depression and further intensified into a deep depression over the
same area. It is likely to intensify further and move in a west-northwesterly direction,” an official of Meteorological Department told The New Nation on Monday.
The weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky over the country and light fog may occur at places over the river basins of the country during early morning.
Maximum sustained wind speed within 48 kms of the depression centre is about 50 kph rising to 60 kph in gusts/squalls. Sea will remain rough near the depression centre.
All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to proceed with caution till further notice.
