SB officer murder: Depositions of more witnesses Sept 11

The Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court of Dhaka yesterday (Tuesday) fixed September 11 to record the depositions of more witnesses in the case filed in connection with murder of a SB Officer of Police and his wife.
Five prosecution witnesses testified while Judge Md Jahurul Haque recorded the depositions on Tuesday. They are seizure list witnesses Constable Mahbub Alam, Constable Maleka Begum, ASI Tabibur Rahman, SI M Abu Taher Bhuiyan and SI Md Shahidullah.
The seized articles include a luggage, blood stained clothes of the slain couple, blood stained kitchen knife and knife, and some other articles with ornaments.
Public Prosecutor Shah Alam questioned the witnesses while accused Oishee’s lawyer Faruque Ahmed Mahbub Rana cross-examined the witnesses.
Accused Oishee Rahman, her friends Asaduzzaman Jony and Mizanur Rahman Rony were produced to the court on the occasion.
Meanwhile, the trial of the couple’s domestic help Khadiza Akhter Sumi was being held in the juvenile court of Dhaka’s First Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court.
On August 18 last year, police recovered the decomposed bodies of SB Inspector Mahfuzur Rahman and his wife Swapna Rahman from their Chamelibagh residence in the capital.
Later, the only daughter of the couple Oishee surrendered to the police and confessed her involvement in the killing. Police also arrested her two friends Jony and Rony and the victims’ domestic help Sumi in connection with the murder.
On August 24 last year, Oishee made confessional statement admitting her involvement in the murder.
Abul Khayer, Inspector of Dhaka Metropolitan DB Police, submitted the charge sheet against the accused on March this year. On May 6, the court framed charges against the accused.
