Deposition in Zia Trust case now May 5

The Special Judge Court-3 of Dhaka on Monday deferred recording BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia’s statement in her defence in the Zia Charitable Trust graft case to May 5.
Judge Abu Ahmed Jomadar of the Court set up at Alia Madrasa premises of Bakshibazar in the old city fixed the new date upon a time petition filed by defence lawyer Advocate Sanaullah Mia on the ground of his client’s illness.
On August 8, 2011, ACC Deputy Director Harunur Rashid lodged the Zia Charitable Trust graft case
against Khaleda Zia and three others with Tejgaon Police Station on charges of embezzling Tk 31.5 million of the Zia Charitable Trust.
Of the four accused of the case, Monirul Islam Khan, former APS to Sadeque Hossain Khoka and former Director-in-charge of BIWTA Ziaul Islam Munna, earlier appeared to the Court and pleaded not guilty, and sought justice. Besides, the other accused, Harris Chowdhury is a fugitive in the case.
The ACC submitted charge sheet in the case on January 16 in 2012.
