A doctor (dentist) was stabbed to death allegedly by some a gang muggers in the Shewrapara metro rail station area of the capital on Sunday morning.
The deceased was identified as Ahmed Mahi Bulbul Hosen, 34.
Confirming the matter to the media, Md Mostafizur Rahman, Officer-in-charge of Mirpur Model Police Station, said that Bulbul came out of his home to go to Noakhali around 5:30am.
After in incident, police recovered the dentist and rushed him to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital where he died due to excessive bleeding.
The body was sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy, “We are looking into the matter,” the OC said.
According to police, Bulbul had called for his assistant just before the incident, but it was not yet known if his assistant had arrived.
But surprisingly, muggers did not take Tk 12,000 in cash and the cellphone from the victim.
Victim’s wife filed a case with the Mirpur Model Police Station against the miscreants of the murder, the police official added.
