One more patient die of dengue, Aedes mosquito-borne disease, at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) on Monday.
Deceased Hasan Fakir, 45, of Chitalmari village in Bagerhat was a security guard of Madina Group in Old Dhaka.
Hasan was diagnosed with dengue after he was admitted to the DMCH on August 29, the hospital’s Assistant Director (administration), Dr Nasir Uddin said.
He breathed his last around 11:30am, Dr Nasir said.
Fakir had been living at Chawkbazar in the city along with his family. A total of 865 new dengue patients were hospitalised across the country in last 24 hours till Monday morning.
Statistics provided by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) yesterday afternoon showed 3,931 people are currently being treated for dengue, including 2,177 in Dhaka. The number of dengue cases was 902 on Sunday, while 760 on Saturday, 1,025 on Friday, 1,189 on Thursday, 1,157 on Wednesday respectively.
The government said that 71,962 patients had been hospitalised since January 1. Of them, 67,843 were discharged after recovery. Since January, the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) received information of 185 dengue-related deaths.
