Dengue fever: 72 more patients hospitalised

At least 72 dengue patients were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8:00 am on Friday, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of them, only two are from outside of Dhaka.
With the new cases, the total number of dengue infected patients rose to 26,201 this year. Of the total infected, 3,965 are from outside of Dhaka.
So far, 2,546 people have been diagnosed with the fever during the running month
At least 5,458 patients were hospitalised in October, 7,841 in September, 7,698 in August, 2,286 patients were hospitalised in July, 272 in June while 43 were infected in May and the rest are from January to April, according to the DGHS.
A total of 98 people have died of dengue infection in the country this year. Twelve people died in July while 34 have died in August and 23 in September, 22 in October and seven in November so far.
Among the deaths, 90 have died in the Dhaka division, two each in Chattogram, Khulna and Mymensingh divisions and one each in Rajshahi and Barishal divisions.
Though most of the patients who were hospitalised have so far been released, 517 are still undergoing treatment at hospitals in Dhaka, and 94 outside the capital, the DGHS data showed.
UNB adds: Bangladesh reported hospitalisation of 72 new dengue patients in 24 hours until Friday morning.
Although dengue cases were supposed to drop ahead of winter, the country until Thursday saw over 100 dengue cases per day.
The number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease remained unchanged at 98 in the current year as no fresh death was reported during the period, according  
to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the deceased, 90 people died in Dhaka division alone, two each in Chattogram, Mymensingh and Khulna divisions and one each in Rajshahi and Barishal divisions.
Among the new patients, 72 are undergoing treatment in hospitals in Dhaka while the remaining two cases have been reported from outside the division.
Some 517 patients diagnosed with dengue are receiving treatment in the country as of Friday.
Of them, 423 patients are receiving treatment at different hospitals in the capital while the remaining 94 were listed outside Dhaka.
Since January, some 26,201 patients have been admitted to different hospitals with dengue in the country. So far, 25, 586 dengue patients have left hospitals after recovery, said DGHS.
In September, the country recorded the highest number of 7,841 dengue cases of the current year with 23 deaths. In October, the number of dengue cases came down to 5,604 with 22 deaths recorded.
