Supporters of nomination deprived Awami League (AL) leaders on Monday took to the streets in some constituencies demanding review of the party decision.
Even they locked clashes with the rival groups over nomination for the upcoming national polls.
Four activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) were injured in a factional clash at Badarpur under Mehendiganj upazila in Barishal after the ruling AL announced the names of the candidate getting nomination for Barishal-4 constituency.
Locals and witnesses said a BCL group led by Shiab Uddin, follower of local AL lawmaker Pankaj Nath, attacked upazila unit BCL vice-president Raju Khan and his companions, who are followers of upazila unit AL president and Zilla Parishad Chairman Maidul Islam in the afternoon.
Pankaj has got the AL ticket, which was also sought by Maidul.
Both groups used sharp and lethal weapons and chased and counter-chased each other creating panic in the area. Two shops were vandalised during the clash.
Md Masud Khan, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mehendiganj Police Station, said the BCL leaders are cousins but have old rivalry over different issues. No-one was arrested and no case was filed as of 8:45 last night.
In Faridpur, hundreds of supporters of Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury, AL Presidium Member and deputy leader of the House, came out to the street, as she was not given any nomination letter yesterday. But none got the party ticket for her constituency Faridpur-2.
They brought out procession demanding nomination for Sajeda.
In Mymensingh, hundreds of supporters of AL central leader Abdus Sattar put up a barricade on Mymensingh-Kishoreganj Highway seeking nomination for him in Mymensingh-8 constituency.
Kabir Hossain, OC of Ishwarganj Police Station, said the blockade was created around 12:00pm and removed around 4:15pm.
In Jamalpur, supporters of AL leader and FBCCI director Rezaul Karim Reznu took to the stage seeking nomination for him in Jamalpur -5 constituency.
They also put barricade on Dhaka- Jamalpur and Jamalpur-Tangail road halting traffic movements for over one hour.
Traders also shut their shops in the district town demanding nomination for Reznu.
In Kurigram, supporters of Mohammad Jafar Ali took to the street demanding nomination for him.
In Netrokona, supporters of deprived nomination candidate Chhobi Akhter took to the street demanding to cancel the nomination of Manu Majumder and confirming the nomination of present parliament member Chhobi Akhter.
In Chuadanga, Supporter of Nazrul Mallick came out to street demanding nomination for him.
Later they locked clashes with the supporters of rival group creating a tense situation at Raipura of Jibonnagar Upazila of the district.
The ruling AL picked around 50 new faces for the upcoming parliamentary polls and dropped 38 MPs as it handed out nomination letters to its aspirants for 248 constituencies on Sunday.
The party said it has kept some 70 seats for allies including Jatiya Party, the main opposition in the current parliament.
