Bangladesh Chhatra and Jubo Odhikar Parishad has demanded withdrawal of case against former DUCSU VP Nurul Huq Nur terming it ‘false and conspiratorial.’
The organisation staged demonstration at Jatiya Press Club and National Museum premises on Tuesday demanding the withdrawal of the case.
Meanwhile, the organisation alleged that minimum 10 of its leaders and activists including Nur were injured when police and some plain clothed persons swooped on them when they were returning home on Monday evening.
The leaders of the organisation demanded arrest of those persons and bring them to justice.
Bangladesh Chhatra and Jubo Odhikar Parishad held a demonstration at the Jatiya Press Club premises at about 11:00am on Tuesday. Later, they went to Saheed Minar with a procession parading the road adjacent to the High Court and then to Shahbagh through TSC where they held a demonstration.
Speaking at the demonstration at the Jatiya Press Club premises, former DUCSU Social Welfare secretary Akhtar Hossain said it was not the first time that they were attacked. It happened many times earlier. But, none could suppress their movement by resorting to such heinous activities. Nurul Huq Nuru himself took to the street to protest after he was implicated in a false case. But, police and some plainclothed persons attacked their leaders and workers with iron rods and hockey sticks.
Joint Convener Faruque Hasan said the autocratic government wants to stick to power implicating their leaders and workers in false cases. They would continue to lodge protest against the government’s torture and repression.
