Delwar Hossain of Narsingdi Tennis Club clinched men’s singles title of the Swiss Paper Independence Day Tennis beating Arif Hossain of American Club by 6-4, 6-0 in the final held on Saturday at National Tennis Court Complex in the city’s Ramna.
In the day’s men’s doubles group, Amal Roy (ERC) and Faruk Hossain (Elite Tennis Academy) clinched the men’s doubles title defeating Arif Hosain and Milon Hossain pair of (American Club) 6-4, 6-1 in the final.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Dr Biren Sikder, MP, was the chief guest in the finals and distributed the prizes.
Earlier on Friday, in the boys’ singles 18-year group, Faruk Hossain of Elite Tennis Academy emerged champions beating his teammate Jewel Rana by 3-6, 6-4 and 7-5 in the final.
In the girls’ singles 18-year group, Afrana Islam Prety of Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Prothistan (BKSP) emerged champion beating her teammate Rebeka Sultana 6-1, 7-6 in the final.
In the boys’ singles 14-year group, Rumman Hossain of BKSP emerged champions beating Rakib Hossain of Elite Tennis Academy 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the final.
In the girls’ singles 14-year group, Zerin Sultana Jolly of BKSP emerged champion defeating her teammate Eti Akter 6-3, 6-1 in the final.
In the girls’ singles 12-year group, Mashfia Afrim of Brahmanbaria District Sports Association emerged champion beating Sadia Afrin of BKSP 8-2 in the final.
