Fog disrupted flight operations at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) on Tuesday.
At least 25 inbound flights to Dhaka faced delays due to thick fog on the runway of the Airport, Civil Aviation Authority Bangladesh (CAAB) officials said.
They said, two aircrafts, scheduled to land at 7:50am and 8:20am, moved their direction to Kolkata and Chittagong respectively amid disruption in flights operation.
“The flights faced the disruption as heavy fog kept the runway of the Airport blurred. Similar conditions are expected tomorrow morning,” Civil Aviation Duty Officer Md Farid Uddin told media.
He said many airlines have either cancelled their flights or delayed, thereby disrupting the plans and schedules of passengers.
Met Office Director Shamsuddin Ahmed said dense fog has covered the northern to the middle part of the country. “The fog may remain for the next three to four days,” he added.
Ahmed further said that visibility at HSIA now stands at 1,800 meter forcing the Met Office to issue a fog warning at the airport.
