Police in India have arrested popular actor Deep Sidhu for his alleged role in the Republic Day rampage by farmers during their tractor rally in the national capital in protest against three new farm laws that they fear will hurt their livelihoods. Sidhu began his career with Punjabi language film Ramta Jogi, which was produced by popular Bollywood actor Dharmendra. Sidhu entered politics during the 2019 Indian general election and campaigned for Dharmendra’s actor-son Sunny Deol.
