Compulsory deposit of moalem fee, air fare, online registration: Decrease of Hajj pilgrims feared

Different hajj groups and travel agents in the port city assumed that the numbers of hajj pilgrim may decrease alarmingly this year due to compulsory deposit of moalem fees, air fare , online registration and machine readable passports.
 According to hajj police of govt, about 1 lakh one thousand 758 pilgrims will be allowed to perform hajj in 2015 and hence every intending pilgrims will have to deposit Tk.1.50 lakh in first installment within from Janurary 15 to February 5 next aimed at online registration. The intending hajj pilgrims will not take proper decision of performing the hajj and deposit of large amount by this shortest time. Hajj agency owners fear that the number of hajj pilgrims will be declined this year due to complications of registration and deposit of huge amount in first installment.
 The agency owners sources said in early years, the aspirant hajjis would deposit hajj money to agency in June, July but this year this process begins four months earlier. The agency owners demanded reconsideration of hajj policy by the govt otherwise the numbers of hajj pilgrims will be decreased alarmingly. Sources further said hajj registration time fixed only 20 days and it is quite impossible to register more than one lakh hajis within 20 days whereas it takes time of 2 and half month in last year. Hajj Agency Association of Bangladesh(HAAB) President Md. Ibrahim Bahar sources said the owners of agencies are fearing about the hajj policy and urges the authority to register the intending hajj pilgrims by taking only moalem fees except air fare and others.
Mentionable that 98,605 pilgrims performed hajj last year and about 1,01,758 pilgrims will be allowed to perform hajj this year which was passed in the cabinet meeting headed by prime minister on December 8 last.
