The war crimes tribunal on Thursday issued a warrant of execution for Jamaat-e-Islami leader Muhammad Kamaruzzaman, condemned to death for crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971. A bench of International Crimes Tribunal-2 led by Justice Obaidul Hassan issued the death warrant on Thursday noon. The Tribunal will soon send the document wrapped in traditional red cloth to the prison authorities of Dhaka Central Jail. Earlier on Wednesday, the Supreme Court released the full verdict upholding the death penalty for Muhammad Kamaruzzaman in a war crimes case. The ICT-2 handed capital punishment to Muhammad Kamaruzzaman , the key organiser of the infamous Al-Badr Bahini, on May 9, 2013. The SC upheld the death penalty to the 79-year-old for the mass killing at Sohagpur of Sherpur on July 25, 1971.
