Awami League (AL) Publicity and Publication Secretary Hasan Mahmud, MP, on Monday demanded capital punishment of perpetrators who were behind the 21-August grenade attack carried out on an AL rally in the capital in 2004.”Begum Khaleda Zia was well-informed of the grenade attack. She knew everything. I am a victim of the attack and also a witness. So, from my position, I demand capital punishment of the perpetrators of the 21-August grenade attack,” he said.
Hasan Mahmud was addressing a discussion titled ‘The Great Poet of Development, Champion of Democracy, Beacon of the Country Sheikh Hasina-Election as per the Constitution’ at Shilpakala Academy here, a press release said.
Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jot (BSJ) organised the discussion with its vice-president actress Nutan in the chair.
Mahmud said: “Dr Kamal Hossain and others used to deliver pro-progressive speech, but they are now on the driving seat of rotting politics”. Dr Kamal Hossain and B Chowdhury have emerged as protectors of BNP, he said, urging all to be united to resist them.
