Local people staged demonstrations and put up blockade on Kalshi-Banani Flyover road in Kalshi area on Thursday morning protesting the death of a college student in a road crash on Wednesday night.
Over one hundred people put up barricade on the road for the second consecutive day demanding punishment of the driver of the vehicle and a speed breaker on the road.
Quoting witnesses, police said, Sharmin Akhter, 18, a resident of the Paschim Matikata area under Cantonment police station, was critically injured after being hit by a vehicle at ECB chatter of Manikdi area while she was returning home after submitting her admission form to Titumir College around 1:30am on Wedndaday.
She was rushed to Combined Military Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries in the evening.
Enraged by the accident, local people blocked the road from 6pm to 8pm on Wednesday.
